City and countryside stops

  • List places requiring vehicle access.
  • Specify whether Langinkoski will be part of the route.
  • Check opening hours for your chosen venues on your date.

Kotka's city parks and maritime history

You can explore Kotka through its parks and waterfronts or its maritime history. Sapokka Water Garden and Maritime Centre Vellamo are different kinds of stops: one is an outdoor city space, the other a museum visit. Choose according to the group's interests and time available.

Langinkoski and Alexander III’s fishing lodge are a separate destination. Visiting them does not replace a walk around the town itself. To combine the museum, natural surroundings and central Kotka, list them in the required order and check interior access to your chosen sites in advance.

Langinkoski: museum and a walk beside the rapids

Langinkoski is linked to imperial family history: a fishing lodge was built here for Alexander III in the late 19th century and later became a museum. Nearby historic buildings and natural surroundings by the rapids allow you to plan a museum visit and a walk separately.

Use the exact name Langinkoski and the museum address for the route, rather than just “Kotka”. First check the museum visiting calendar, then decide how much time to allow for the natural surroundings and town. Outdoor walking access and entry to the lodge are separate parts of the plan.
