Border problems when travelling to Lappeenranta 22.10.2017 11:04Unfortunately, bad news for lovers of shopping tours to Lappeenranta.
The Brusnichnoye–Nuijamaa border crossing operates exceptionally poorly, with very long queues and waiting times. The reason is that the Finnish side uses it as a training crossing. Future border guards from Finnish educational institutions regularly train there, so passengers and vehicles undergo the full range of checks: X-rays, vehicle weighing, baggage scanning and more. This takes a great deal of time and causes congestion.
Fans of this wonderful town therefore need patience, a willingness to leave earlier, or… to fall in love with another nearby town: Imatra.
