Before requesting a transfer
- Check the airport against your airline booking.
- Check the airport operator’s current flight board.
- Specify passengers, luggage and the exact departure address.
Helsinki and Lappeenranta
Helsinki-Vantaa is the capital region’s airport, located in Vantaa; this website has a dedicated information page and separate transfer options for it. Lappeenranta is another airport, associated with the town of the same name. Proximity to your holiday destination does not replace checking the required flight and date.
When comparing airports, consider the entire journey: travel from Saint Petersburg, time before check-in, luggage, onward connections and return arrival. The cheapest flight does not always mean the lowest total expense. FiniTrans ground transport across the Finnish border remains suspended.
Turku, Rovaniemi and Kuopio
The original guide also featured Turku, Rovaniemi and Kuopio airports. We retain them as distinct planning destinations: Turku for southwestern Finland, Rovaniemi for Lapland and Kuopio for North Savo. A list of airports and current information are available from operator Finavia.
A distant airport is not an equivalent transfer option simply because its airfare is similar. Provide the exact airport name, booking code, departure date and post-arrival plans. Onward travel within Finland may require a separate independently arranged leg rather than a vehicle from Saint Petersburg.
How to choose an airport and final address
Helsinki-Vantaa and Lappeenranta Airport are different destinations. A city name on a ticket does not replace the airport name, date and flight number. Check flight availability for your date with the airline and airport before discussing the ground transport section.
For departures, provide the flight departure time rather than your preferred arrival time: check-in and other airport procedures must be allowed for separately. For an arrival pickup, we need flight details and the passenger's contact information. Connections, waiting and return journeys must be included in the agreed plan. The current suspension of transport to Finland also applies to airport routes.
