From the archive: a family visit to Serena
The author of an earlier FiniTrans article described visiting Serena with his daughter. His impressions included water slides, a wave pool, the moving water of the “wild stream” and a sauna. This account of a family day captures the character of the place: a range of activities rather than just one attraction.
This recollection concerns a past visit. Check attraction names, availability, restrictions and ticket inclusions with Serena for your new date. Old slide dimensions, descent speeds, free meals and ticket prices should not be treated as confirmed terms for a future visit.
A day with children and nearby accommodation
The old Serena page described a family leisure destination, not simply a drop-off point. For a small group, decide in advance whether to spend the whole day in the water areas or combine them with other activities. Indoor and outdoor sections may have different opening calendars.
If your visit includes an overnight stay, provide the accommodation address separately from the water park entrance. For the return, we need the date and meeting point after the visit, when the group has changed and packed its belongings. Serena sets attraction restrictions and included services.
What to prepare for a visit
Bring swimwear and a towel: Serena says these are not available for hire. Lockers are available for ordinary belongings; avoid taking bulky purchases into the changing room. Ask the complex about storage for large items and valuables; this does not mean the driver automatically accepts belongings for safekeeping.
The saunas are in the cave section of the indoor complex. The operator publishes visiting terms and hygiene rules. Plan pool activities separately from changing, meals and meeting your transport: leaving the pool is not the same as the whole family being ready to depart.
Espoo, rather than central Helsinki
Serena has indoor and outdoor areas; opening depends on the park calendar. Use the complex's address in Espoo rather than the general destination 'Helsinki'. Check opening dates and available attractions with Serena.
What Serena offers
Serena in Espoo combines indoor and outdoor water-park areas. The operator describes water slides, a wave pool, children's areas and saunas. First decide which areas interest your group, then check availability on your chosen date.
The complex is at Tornimäentie 10, Espoo. Allow time to change, rest and meet up after your visit. For a family trip, check attraction rules and child supervision requirements: each slide may have its own restrictions.
