A short trip to Finland: planning limitations

The length of your stay does not replace checking eligibility to enter. The old name 'Finland for 2 hours' does not promise a current service or a border crossing time.

Services to Finland are suspended until the border reopens

Do not plan a trip solely for a passport stamp

  • Purpose and documents are checked against current official requirements.
  • No fixed border crossing time is promised.
  • FiniTrans services to Finland are currently suspended.

A short shopping stop: what the former route included

The old name referred to a short stay on the Finnish side, including shopping stops, rather than the entire journey from Saint Petersburg. For visitors following an old link, this distinction matters: outward and return travel, border procedures and time in shops are separate components.

You can consult the guide for a possible list of shops, but a store being open does not itself make travel available. FiniTrans will resume Finnish services once the border reopens; the former two-hour period is not a promise of crossing time, a short service or a visa outcome.

A short visit does not mean a short journey

Planning an international trip includes the journey, current crossing conditions and purpose of the visit. A fixed time at the destination does not make the total journey time predictable. Current trips within Russia and to Ivangorod are discussed separately from this former route.

Two hours is not a confirmed journey duration

The old page title retains a search term, not a guarantee of a quick border crossing. Trips to Finland are currently suspended. The duration of a future journey cannot be calculated solely from time spent in the country: driving, waiting and required procedures take additional time.

If you need a route within Russia or to Ivangorod, describe it in your own words: pickup address, destination, passengers and luggage. Continuing in Estonia and meeting partners after crossing independently require separate arrangements. You do not need to submit document copies in the route description form.
