Finnish visa and travel: what to check

Visa applications and transport arrangements are separate matters. The old page name remains in the URL, but the trip is not offered as a way to secure a visa’s issue or extension.

What route planning involves

  • Check the official requirements for your travel purpose.
  • Check entry eligibility before arranging transport.
  • For a future Finland trip, wait until services resume.

'Open', 'close' and 'use' a visa: old search expressions

Earlier publications used these words for the first, last or a short trip on a visa. For a carrier, they can refer only to a specific route. An individual trip is not a visa-issuing service and does not confirm that a person has met the conditions of visa use.

Keep documents and travel separate rather than calculating border stamps and predicting consular decisions. Contact the responsible authorities about visas; for future transport, provide the required addresses and dates. The existence of an old page does not mean a short service is currently operating.

We do not promise to “activate” or “complete” a visa through a trip

For visa decisions, use official information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and authorised services. The carrier cannot promise that a particular trip will secure a subsequent visa decision. Services to Finland remain suspended.

Finnish visa travel and transport are separate issues

The term “visa run” describes neither a current service nor a document-processing procedure. Holding a visa does not in itself confirm a particular carrier journey. Travel arrangements must be discussed separately from checking grounds for crossing the border.

If you need a route within Russia or to Ivangorod, describe it in your own words: pickup address, destination, passengers and luggage. Continuing in Estonia and meeting partners after crossing independently require separate arrangements. You do not need to submit document copies in the route description form.
